Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the 1968 Democratic Convention and there was a casting call for a movie with many characters for youngsters who disrupted the event. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC, went to the auditions in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, who had trained to become an actor, was not selected by the casting committee. Susan, his wife Susan was chosen for a leading part in the film as Susan Compton, the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Then, Joe (Peter Boyle) as a bigot, who works in an assembly line and has a collection of guns, meets Susan. Five years later Sarandon is the director of the movie. Janet is a transvestite who falls in love with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). Sarandon took on the role of Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 year after her debut. She took a flight on her own from Rome from Italy, to Los Angeles. Sarandon said that "It was such a great script... it removed a number of myths and challenged America's definition of success". "I spent some time there with Kevin Costner, sex some guys at the studio, and then I got back on a plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) as a supporting actor, was her first lover. He had two sons in 1992. This left Sarandon in a awkward spot. She left her home and take on the roles that were extremely challenging. The result was four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s and for the best actress in Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first Academy Award nomination.
